28% Reduction in Chronic Homelessness

Posted on May 13, 2019

On Wednesday the County of Marin hosted a press conference (watch it here) to announce preliminary results from the 2019 Homeless Point-in-Time Count. While there is still work to be done, these results suggest that our strategy to end chronic homelessness is working!

28 percent reduction

152 people housed

95 percent still housed

In San Rafael we’ve seen a …

54 percent decline in emergency medical transports

86 percent decrease in police calls

A group of local providers and leaders

The City of San Rafael has been one part of a much larger team that helped make this happen. A special thanks to the County of Marin, the Ritter Center, Marin General, the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin, the Marin Housing Authority, Homeward Bound of Marin, and Buckelew Programs.
