2023 Sewer Rehabilitation

To complete repair and replacement of deteriorated sewer main, sewer laterals, and manholes.

In 2019, the District televised and assessed approximately 11.5 miles of sewer main from 4-inch to 36-inch diameter and manholes throughout central San Rafael near the US Highway-101 and nearby adjacent streets, using the Pipe Assessment Certification Program (PACP) rating system. In 2023, the District entered a Professional Services Agreement with Schaaf & Wheeler to perform an analysis for the 2019 Pipeline Condition Assessment Report, compile a list of sewers recommended for replacement and prepare a set of bid documents.

The project consists of repairing and replacing segments of pipes between manholes, which total approximately 2.7 miles of sewer main. The pipe sizes are  6 and 8 inches in diameter. This project also includes the replacement of 215 laterals and rehabilitation of 76 manholes, located at more than 34 locations across San Rafael.
