Parks Division staff have been using the break in the weather to perform field restorations at Albert Park and Pickleweed Park. At the Albert Park ball field, staff re-edged the baselines, rebuilt the mound, set new base plugs, nail dragged the field and added new infield material. They also reset home plate and restored the batters’ boxes. At the Pickleweed sports fields, the Parks staff completed several tasks that included aerating, fertilizing, seeding and top dressing the field with 20 tons of sand to smooth and level out the playing field. Public Works recently placed an order for a turf renovation tractor attachment that will allow Parks staff to renovate the fields in house and keep them at a high standard.
