On Tuesday, we convened a group of community stakeholders to participate in a Bloomberg Philanthropies Mayor’s Challenge “Idea Accelerator” workshop and work on the issue of illegal dumping. The group spent the day taking a deep dive understanding the problem and causes, including interviewing random members of the public about how they dispose of furniture. The next step is to prepare a grant application where we could receive $100,000 to develop a prototype solution and up to $5 million to implement. Regardless of the grant, the group will continue to meet and work on their ideas. BLOOMBERG MAYOR’S CHALLENGE
