Bret Hart Sewer Easement Retaining Wall Improvement Project (Sanitation District)

Project Goals

To improve the existing sewer easement on Bret Harte by constructing nine retaining walls

Budget

Construction $1,550,000

Overview

The District owns and maintains a 6-inch sanitary sewer located within a 20-foot wide hillside easement that provide sewage services for residents from 60 Bret Harte Road to 140 Bret Harte Road.  The easement, sewer facilities, and associated retaining walls are primarily located near or adjacent to the northern property line of the existing residences.  Within the easement, there is a partially improved pathway approximately 10 feet wide and was originally formed by cutting the uphill slope and filling the hillside below and included the construction of a 4-foot-tall wooden retaining wall.

This project consists of constructing a total of nine (9) retaining walls providing slope stability to a sanitary sewer easement. Project also includes a drainage culvert, geocell drainage, and replacement of 100 LF of 6-inch sanitary sewer pipe.
