Sales Tax Cap Exemption

The Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) is seeking support from each jurisdiction in Marin for their pursuit of State legislation that would provide a local sales tax cap exemption. Childcare Program Services Fee Increase

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the City Council will consider a 5% fee increase for the City’s child care program. The fee increase would cover augmented staffing and operational costs of our seven child care centers and Parkside Preschool. If approved, the new fees would be effective July 1, 2017.

Community Development Block Grant

Every year, the City allocates federal housing funds to projects that serve low-income residents such as housing renovation, community facilities, capital improvements, and human service programs. At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the Council will consider a recommendation to the County to allocate $375,379 for countywide housing programs, curb ramp improvements and plumbing upgrades.

Climate Change and Conservation Progress

Students from the Marin School of Environmental Leadership’s iMatterYouth team will make a presentation at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The students will deliver a report card on San Rafael’s climate action progress and provide data on San Rafael’s progress in regards to conservation efforts.

Downtown Farmers’ Market Update

Also on Tuesday, the City Council will also hear a presentation from the San Rafael’s Downtown Farmers’ Market manager, Shayla Moran, about what to expect this upcoming season, including improvements to the market, new branding, and special activities.

Citizen Police Academy offered in Spanish

The San Rafael Police Department is holding their first Spanish Citizens Police Academy to serve the City’s Spanish-speaking population. The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is an interactive, behind-the-scenes, ten-week program, offered free of charge. Marin Sanitary Refuse Rates

On Monday, December 19 at 7 p.m., the City Council will consider a rate adjustment proposal for Marin Sanitary Service to continue to provide refuse, recycling and organic materials hauling and processing for customers in San Rafael in 2017. The proposed rate adjustment would increase rates by 5.71% over 2016 levels for all rate payers. … Continued

Andersen Drive at-grade-crossing

To prepare for SMART’s planned rail service to Larkspur, San Rafael identified and studied six possibilities to accommodate a rail crossing at Andersen Drive; ultimately finding a modified at-grade crossing to be the most appropriate design. At Monday’s meeting, the City Council will consider plans for a new at-grade rail crossing at Andersen Drive.
