The City of San Rafael in conjunction with Caltrans and the County of Marin CUPA removed an abandoned 1200-gallon underground storage tank from the right turn lane on the Highway 101 northbound Central San Rafael exit. This tank removal project was coordinated by the City of San Rafael as a part of the Caltrans Harbor Bridge Replacement project that Gordan N. Ball Inc., General Engineering Contractor is currently working on. Once the bridge replacement project is complete there will be 5 lanes approaching the Second Street and Irwin Street intersection with two lanes that can make a right turn onto Second Street.
