The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a federal program that provides funding for housing, community facilities, and human services. In San Rafael, examples of CDBG-funded projects have included the development of affordable housing, sidewalk accessibility improvements, and a wide range of public services. For October 2019 through September 2020, Marin County is expected to receive approximately $1.4 million ($415K of which will fund projects and activities in San Rafael). At their Monday meeting, the City Council will consider which projects and activities should be funded for the upcoming fiscal year. Specifically, the City Council will consider allocating $110K for public services (such as fair housing services, domestic violence and legal services, and senior services), $205K for housing projects, and $100K for capital projects.
