Community Development Block Grants

Posted on March 12, 2020

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a federal program that provides funding for housing, community facilities, and human services. In San Rafael, examples of CDBG-funded projects have included the development of affordable housing, sidewalk accessibility improvements, and a wide range of public services. For October 2020 through September 2021, Marin County is expected to receive approximately $1.6 million ($510K of which will fund projects and activities in San Rafael). On Monday night, the City Council will consider which projects and activities should be funded for the upcoming fiscal year. Specifically, the City Council will consider allocating $97K for public services (such as fair housing services, domestic violence and legal services, and senior services), $210K for housing projects, and $203K for either housing or capital projects.
