Together with Police, Fire, and a team of consultants, Public Works has been preparing our traffic signals in Central San Rafael with emergency vehicle preemption. We are the first City to leverage the Miovision technology with the Whelan devices in the emergency vehicles to send a signal to the signalized intersections over the cloud so that the intersection gives a green light to the direction the emergency vehicle is trying to go.
Here’s a picture of the controller being tested in the traffic signal shop. We’re looking for an indication that the controller picked up the pre-emption signal.
