Join the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for a public safety power shutoffs on Friday December 14, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Santa Rosa.
Utilities have the authority to shut off power in order to protect public safety under high fire risk conditions. Public safety power shutoffs can save lives and property, and can prevent wildfires.
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has developed rules regarding the reasonableness, notification, mitigation, and reporting of PSPS, also known was de-energization. The CPUC is continuing to improve these rules with an emphasis on protecting vulnerable populations.
