Since 1973, the City of San Rafael and the Marinwood Community Services District have provided shared fire protection services in each other’s service area. The Marinwood Fire Chief recently announced his retirement, and Marinwood officials have expressed that their fire department is in need of obtaining Fire Chief Officer Services to provide administration and operations oversight. At Monday night’s meeting, the City Council will consider amending the existing operational agreement between the City and Marinwood to include Fire Chief Officer Services. This amended agreement furthers the City’s goal is to enhance shared services where possible, while continuing to provide high quality and efficient fire and rescue services to the community.
