Construction of Fire Stations 54 is complete!

Earlier this month, the Fire Department occupied the newly renovated Fire Station 54, located on 46 Castro Ave.  After various unforeseen delays, the contractor completed the project.  On January 3, 2024, the crews moved into the upgraded facility and resumed operations in the Canal neighborhood immediately.

The two-story building houses the living quarters, including a kitchen, dayroom, four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, laundry room, and a nice balcony.  The first floor includes an office, gym, turnout gear room, and the apparatus bay that fits two emergency vehicles.  The station is equipped with an elevator and an emergency generator that will sustain operations in case of a major emergency.

The construction team will continue to work on minor repairs and punch list items during the upcoming weeks.

This is a very important milestone for the City.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this project!
