Last month, the City completed both the Francisco Blvd East Sidewalk Widening project and the Francisco Blvd East Resurfacing project between Grand Avenue and Vivian Street. These two projects combined to improve the major connection between the Canal neighborhood and services in Central San Rafael. Improvements include, widening the sidewalk from 4 to 8 feet, street lighting, signal interconnect from Grand to Medway signal, trees, and pavement rehabilitation with new striping. The sidewalk project was funded by a federal Active Transportation Grant, while the resurfacing project was funded using Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA) funds.
