At the end of July, the City kicked off the multimillion-dollar upgrade of the sidewalk on Francisco Blvd East between Vivian and Grand Ave. The City’s contractor, Ghilotti Bros, continues to make progress replacing underground storm drainpipe. Concurrent with the City’s project is a cooperative effort with the San Rafael Sanitation District (SRSD). The project site is shared with a second contractor, KJ Woods, performing sanitary sewer main replacement work from Medway to Harbor. A new sewer main, lower sewer laterals and new manholes are part of SRSD’s project. Once the sewer main project is complete, installation of the new street light system and irrigation piping will be performed prior to placement of the new sidewalk. Detailed coordination between DPW and SRSD has been critical to the success of both projects.
