There have been many changes since our current General Plan was adopted in 2004. There are new State laws, regulations, demographic changes and even a new train! The new General Plan 2040, once updated and adopted, will guide the City into the next 20 years. This update will take three years to create, involving data collection; environmental analysis of transportation, air quality, noise, greenhouse gases, among other impacts; and extensive community input. On Monday, the City Council will consider an agreement to hire Barry Miller as the project manager; he has vast experience preparing General Plan updates throughout the country, including nine other Bay Area cities.
