Posted on August 30, 2019

Marin Grand Jury
This past June, the Marin County Civil Grand Jury issued a report entitled Marin’s Telecommunications Disconnect regarding telecommunications-related activity in Marin County. The report focuses on the role and responsibility of the Marin Telecommunications Agency (MTA), a countywide joint powers authority that was established in 1998 to to negotiate, collect, and disburse cable TV franchise fees and Public, Education and Government (PEG) fees, and to coordinate telecommunications issues for Marin County (with the exception of Novato and Larkspur). As federal and state law surrounding telecommunications has changed, so has the scope of responsibility of the MTA. The agenda item is for San Rafael to state opinions on the Grand Jury’s recommendations.
