Homelessness Solutions Working Group

The City of San Rafael is establishing a working group that will meet three times over the next six months to explore ongoing challenges and potential solutions regarding homelessness in the City.  

We have heard from the community that they want to help and want to better understand the complexities surrounding solving homelessness. 

This is an opportunity to get involved, to provide input and share your concerns directly with City officials. The work of this group will serve as a foundation for the City’s Homelessness Solutions Action Plan, which will be developed in 2025.  

In addition, working group members will be trusted messengers who will communicate with their colleagues and neighbors about what they’ve learned and what the City and the County are doing together to respond to homelessness in San Rafael. Example topics for this group include the legal challenges, enforcement activities, shelter demand, services, programs, funding and other obstacles.   

The working group will meet virtually over Zoom on the second Tuesday of November, January, and March from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.  

Once the working group is formed, there will be an orientation session in person, including participation of the City Council’s Homelessness Subcommittee, which is Mayor Kate and Council member Kertz. That in person meeting will be held in late October. 

Residents of San Rafael and business and/or property owners may participate in the working group, provided they are able to attend all three planned meetings.
