We were able to increase the on-street parking supply by approximately 24 spaces in East San Rafael. On Thursday August 29th, Bayside Striping and Seal striped on-street angled parking on the on the south side of Bellam Boulevard between Vista del Mar and Playa del Rey and on the west side of Kerner Boulevard south of Irene Street. The striping work was added to on-going work by the same contractor allowing us to realize cost savings. In addition to the much-needed supply in parking, the angled parking brings traffic calming advantages to the area.
Additionally, we are working with Parking Services to allow people to park Kerner Boulevard south of Bellam Boulevard on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays. This provides short-term storage over the weekends.
The crosswalk on Vista del Mar will be augmented with a Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon and many improvements to the street lighting in the general area will follow in Spring 2021.
