On June 14th Public Works Director April Miller participated in a Joint Legislative Visit Day hosted by the American Public Works Association and American Society of Civil Engineers at the California State Capital. Public works officials and consultants met with members and representatives from the State Assembly and State Senate to express our support for some of the proposed state legislative bills related to public works. Topics discussed included the Governor’s Executive Orders to enhance project delivery, timely distribution of IIJA infrastructure funds to local agencies, workforce development, emergency response preparation, and bills related to public contracting and supporting education funding for STEM and MESA programs.
