Recycling has been instrumental in reducing the amount of waste that is being sent to landfills. In addition, recycling and composting have important environmental benefits as well as composting 1) significantly cuts down on the amount of trash in a landfill and 2) composting can help remove carbon from the atmosphere. With a grant secured by our Sustainability Coordinator, Cory Bytof, the Facilities team constructed a new Recycle, Compost and Trash enclosure at the Terra Linda Community Center. With assistance from the Public Works Streets team, we were able to construct an enclosure that provides a smooth surface for the containers to move on and an area to help keep visitors to the Community Center from stepping in a muddy area when they are getting in and out of their vehicles.
