City Hall and other offices will be closed to the public from December 23 to January 3, but appointments are available upon request. Public safety and emergency services remain available 24/7.  

Northbound US 101 Central San Rafael full off-ramp closure – 9/29 – 9/30

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be fully closing the 101 NB Central San Rafael off-ramp for the 101 NB Off-Ramp Bridge Replacement project. The closure schedule is:

  • Wednesday, September 29 from 9 pm to Thursday, September 30 at 9 am; and
  • Thursday, September 30 at 9 pm to Friday, October 1 at 9 am

During this closure, Caltrans the will conduct pre-cast and concrete pour for the new off-ramp.

Detours will be in place; please see familiarize yourself  with the roadway detours which can be found on the Caltrans project websiteMotorists are advised to drive with caution and follow all posted directional signs. Residents and businesses may temporarily experience increased noise levels during this operation. This work is a part of several on-going construction projects along US-101, starting at the Golden Gate Bridge, progressing through Sausalito, and concluding in San Rafael until early winter of 2021. Advisories will be issued for each phase of work, and updates can be found at the Caltrans project website and City of San Rafael project website. 

If you would like to learn more about the project, on Monday, October 4th, Caltrans will present on the 55-hour closure during the City Council meeting. To participate in this meeting, please visit the city website: https://www.cityofsanrafael.org/departments/city-council/. The City Council meeting starts at 7 pm.
