This significant development is expected to transform the former mall location into a pedestrian friendly hub with a blend of residential, retail, and open spaces designed to meet the evolving needs of the community.

Key Highlights of the Project:

New Housing Options: The project will bring 1,422 new residential units, including affordable housing, designed to attract a mix of families, professionals, and retirees.

Retail and Dining: Retail shops, cafes, and restaurants will offer more options for shopping and dining in the area.

Public Spaces: Outdoor plazas, green spaces, and walking paths will be integrated into the development, encouraging community interaction and enhancing the area’s walkability.

Sustainability Focus: In alignment with the City’s sustainability goals, the project will feature energy-efficient buildings, solar panels, and green rooftops, alongside efforts to improve stormwater management and increase green space.

Next Steps

The approval of these land entitlements is a major step toward realizing the vision for Northgate Town Square, which has been in the works for several years. City officials have lauded the project as a key element of San Rafael’s broader revitalization efforts, which aim to attract more residents and visitors while enhancing quality of life for the local community.

Looking Ahead

With entitlements now in place, the project is set to move forward with the next stages of development, including securing financing, finalizing architectural designs, and preparing for construction.

Stay tuned for updates as the project continues to take shape.
