Construction for the San Rafael High School crosswalk begins Monday October 26th! This crosswalk is being installed about 350 feet east of Third Street/Union Street. It will come with a pedestrian hybrid beacon that will be dark unless a pedestrian activates the button to cross. Pedestrians will cross in two phases and this beacon will be coordinated with the signal at Third/Union to minimize vehicle delay on Third Street.
The general contractor, Sposeto Engineering, is anticipating construction to be complete in mid-December. The project will be done in three phases, from 7am – 5pm weekdays and with lane closures occurring from 9am – 3pm to minimize traffic disruptions. Phase 1 is the south side/eastbound lane closure starting October 26. We will monitor traffic and make adjustments to the duration of lane closures as needed.
