Prepare for extended outages

Prepare for Extended Power Outages

Don’t let the rain from earlier this week fool you… Wildfire season is still here, which means PG&E may activate a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event if extreme fire danger conditions are forecast. A PSPS event is intended to reduce the likelihood of a powerline-caused ignition. A PSPS event could last from 24 hours up to one week, depending on the weather.

Now is the time to prepare for extended outages. Create an emergency plan for your household. Build or restock your emergency kit. Sign up to receive emergency alerts from Alert Marin AND Nixle. Encourage vulnerable family members or neighbors – such as those who depend on battery-dependent medical devices like ventilators – to talk with medical providers about a power outage plan.
