I received a traffic citation. What are my next steps?

Traffic

If you received a traffic citation, you should receive a courtesy notice (within two weeks) from the court explaining the “bail” amount you can pay and give you details on how to contest the ticket.  If you don’t get a courtesy notice, you are still responsible for contacting the court on or before the date and time on your citation.

Misdemeanor

If you received a misdemeanor, you need to show up at the courthouse on the date and time indicated on the citation.

Parking

If you received a parking citation, you may pay the ticket online; by mail or in-person to 1400 Fifth Avenue , San Rafael, CA 94901 (office hours are Tuesday and Thursday  10:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m.). For more information, call (415) 458-5333.
