Posted on September 25, 2020

The National Weather Service issues a Red Flag Warningwhen a combination of warm temperatures, very low humidity, and strong winds puts a community at extreme risk of wildfire.

Red Flag Warning for the North Bay Mountains, interior valleys, and other parts of the Bay Area is in effect from Saturday, September 26 at 9 P.M. through 8 A.M. Monday, September 28.  The affected area includes both lower and higher terrain areas of Marin, and neighboring counties.

In anticipation of the elevated risk of fire danger as well as the potential PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoffbeginning tomorrow,  all City of San Rafael open space areas are closed to the public until further notice.  This action is taken to ensure public safety, prevent fires, and to provide first responders with faster and easier access to open space areas in case of a fire.
