San Rafael High School crosswalk construction set to begin!

Posted on October 23, 2020

Construction for the San Rafael High School crosswalk begins Monday October 26! This crosswalk is being installed about 350 feet east of Third Street/Union Street. It will come with a pedestrian hybrid beacon that will be dark unless a pedestrian activates the button to cross. Pedestrians will cross in two phases and this beacon will be coordinated with the signal at Third/Union to minimize vehicle delay on Third Street.

Construction is expected to go through mid-December. The project will be done in three phases, from 7am – 5pm weekdays and with lane closures occurring from 9am – 3pm to minimize traffic disruptions. We will monitor traffic and make adjustments to the duration of lane closures as needed.

Phase 1 – South side/eastbound lane closure Oct 26

Phase 2 – North side/westbound lane closure ~Nov 9

Phase 3 – Middle island/inside lane closures ~Nov 20
