San Rafael, CA – Following a nationwide search, the City of San Rafael is pleased to announce Alicia Giudice as their new Community Development Director, effective June 1, 2021. Alicia brings 25 years of experience working in both the private sector and for local government. Alicia is currently serving as the City’s Planning Manager and will begin her new position following the retirement of Paul Jensen on May 31, 2021.
“Ali brings a proven track record of strong leadership and an ability to engage and listen to the needs of our community. She has a great passion for her work and truly leads by example,” said City Manager Jim Schutz.
Alicia, who is fluent in Spanish, holds a bachelor’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certified. Her experience includes leading teams and managing a broad range of complex development projects, as well as preparing policy documents on topics that include land use, housing, traffic, and utility/infrastructure uses in the public right-of-way. Through decades of public service, Alicia prides herself in developing partnerships as an effective strategy for discovering higher level solutions to complex issues.

The nationwide recruitment was conducted by executive search firm Wendi Brown Creative Partners (WBCP). Giudice’s starting salary will be $ 12,377 per month.
