Sidewalk Repair Program update

Posted on November 15, 2021

Program Manager – JC Agcaoili

As several of the residents who signed up for the initial Pilot Sidewalk Program know, it has taken longer than anticipated due to the overwhelming interest of property owners to partner with the City to improve accessibility throughout the city. We understand that while the City teamed with local contractor Van Midde Concrete have been able to address many properties, there are still others who previously signed up that are interested in repairs. While we work on expediting these concrete replacement projects, Public Works has decided to hire Precision Concrete Cutting (PCC), who specialize in concrete shaving to create accessible paths of travel without full concrete replacement.  PCC has already started shaving sidewalk offsets that are < 2” for properties on the sidewalk program list in both Downtown and Terra Linda.  Last month PCC repaired 38 addresses from our list and completed a total of 614 sidewalk panels.  Over the next couple months, we intend to continue to work with PCC to address all eligible properties that are signed up for the Sidewalk Repair Program.   Thanks again for your patience.
