SMART has completed 100% of all the required testing for the Larkspur extension, and the next step in preparing to open the Larkspur station for service is to begin simulated service to the new Larkspur station on Sunday, November 17.
Simulated service will demonstrate the operational functioning of the full system from Sonoma County Airport Station to the Larkspur Station, including confirming the timetable and completing the training of all of SMART’s crew members on the expanded territory.
As a part of simulated service, SMART will use the train horn at all railroad crossings from central San Rafael at Third Street to Larkspur. Train horns will sound at Third Street, Second Street, Rice Drive, Andersen Drive and above Jacoby Street per Federal Railroad Administration rules and regulations.
