8/24/18 – Storm Drain Replacement at 5th Avenue and G Street

On Monday, August 20^th, the City’s contractor, Ghilotti Bros, began construction at the intersection of 5^th/G Street. The first order of work includes removing an old storm drain culvert dating back to 1928. The Contractor removed the pipe and installed a new storm drain pipe across the east leg of the intersection. Over the next several weeks, the Contractor will install new wheelchair ramps and drainage improvements prior to resurfacing G Street from Mission Avenue to 4^th Street. Traffic is being detoured onto either Mission Avenue or 4^th Street as the work on 5^th/G Street requires a full roadway closure while storm drain work occurs.
