The City owns and operates 12 storm water pump stations. The vast majority of the City’s storm drain inlets, located along the curbs of City streets, drain into these pump stations, where the water is pumped back out to the Bay. These stations work hard during the winter months to keep our City streets from flooding. During the dry summer months, regular maintenance is performed on the stations which includes pulling the pumps and rebuilding motors, damaged pipes, etc. On Tuesday evening, City Council will consider a bid from Pump Repair Service Company of San Francisco for this year’s maintenance work.
