Train Safety & Quiet Zone

Posted on April 27, 2017

SMART

We’re getting closer to SMART’s estimated first day of passenger service, so be safe around the tracks! Also, around the time SMART begins passenger service, San Rafael will have a Quiet Zone is place. This means, the train will only sound the horn as it leaves a station or in the event of an emergency. Please talk to you family and neighbors about using extreme caution around the railroad tracks.

Drivers and pedestrians should always be alert and aware at all railroad crossing gates. Drivers should never stop on the tracks, and never speed through the crossing gates to beat a train. For railroad emergencies or to report crossing gates that are not functioning properly, contact SMART at 1-888-412-3330.
