Vehicle maintenance ASE Blue Seal of Excellence recognition

Posted on July 4, 2022

Recently, the Vehicle Maintenance Division received its Blue Seal of Excellence from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). To receive this recognition, 75% of the technicians performing diagnosis and repairs in the shop must be ASE certified. ASE is an independent non-profit organization that has worked to improve the quality of vehicle repair through testing and certifying automotive professionals since 1972.

Shop and Equipment Supervisor Gerardo Paredes is dual master certified in automotive and heavy truck, shop technician Jay Arieta is working on his master automotive recertification, shop technician Angel Lopez is studying for his first ASE certifications and the Fire Departments Fire Mechanic Steve Ferrario has multiple heavy truck certifications.

Our vehicle maintenance staff maintains and repairs the City’s fleet of over 200 vehicles and equipment including all first responder and emergency vehicles. This testing and recertification process shows the dedication of staff to their craft and provides peace of mind to all City staff that the vehicle they are operating is safe. Vehicle maintenance staff play a vital role in City operations and keeping us all moving forward.
