Wildfire Safety Panel Discussions February 2025

In February 2025, Mayor Kate hosted a discussion with City wildfire safety and prevention experts. Wildfires are becoming a more frequent and intense threat to communities, making it essential for everyone to understand the risks and be prepared. Following the devasting LA Fires, residents had an opportunity to have their questions and concerns addressed by staff.

In this discussion, Mayor Kate, Fire Chief Roman, Deputy Director of Emergency Management Quinn Gardner, and Wildfire Program Manager Kate Anderson, explored key topics such as how the City is reducing wildfire risk, how to prepare for disasters, emergency response strategies, and how to find resources. The Panelists discussed the ongoing work underway to adapt to living with wildfire, including the implementation of the 38-point wildfire action plan, adopted following the 2017 North Bay Fires and the projects funded the Marin’s Wildfire Prevention Tax (Measure C).

Whether you’re seeking to learn more about staying safe during wildfire season or looking for actionable tips to protect your property, this conversation will provide crucial insights to help you and your community stay resilient in the face of wildfire risks in Marin County. The City has resources available to support you, please reach out!

A written summary of the discussion will be posted soon.
