The Canal Area Parking Taskforce recommended the consideration of Windward Way to provide secure on-street and overnight parking. The City team made significant progress in designing a visual concept and further explanations of how that concept would function to achieve the ultimate goals. The implementation of this idea would require a significant initial investment by the City that would include hiring an overnight security service, as well as installing fencing, signage, gates and street lights. The suggested solution to recover some of the costs associated with this program is to charge a parking fee. The fee idea was supported by area residents. The feasibility of this pilot program is being evaluated. A report on the possibilities will be provided for the Taskforce during their meeting in May 2023.
