Working to keep equipment moving

The San Rafael Police Department has 20 marked patrol units that our two garage techs work diligently to keep in operating order.  As you can imagine, these patrol cars, along with many other City vehicles and equipment, see a lot of hard use and require constant attention. As the fleets age, they begin to require more attention and as a result, this can create increased pressure on the garage maintenance staff and budget. Within the last year, DPW has purchased 3 new hybrid patrol vehicles and they are proving to be reliable. We are looking forward to adding more new hybrid patrol vehicles to improve the police department fleets reliability, lessen the impact on the environment and help alleviate the maintenance burden. Here you see in the photo Garage technician Angel Lopez checking the brakes on one of the patrol cars.
